Preparation for 2008
|

Dawlish Marina is a bowling club, situated just outside Dawlish town centre near the leisure centre in Sandy Lane. It was started in 1940 as a Ladies club and after a few years was extended to become a mixed club. There are now about 80 members in the Club. We had our Green relaid Winter 2002 and further supporting work has be carried out each winter since. The Men play in the Mid-Devon League (MDL) and the Exeter Over 60's League while the Ladies play in the Print Plus League. We also have many friendly games with other local clubs as well as touring clubs from around the country. New members are always welcome as are holiday visitors and enquiries from clubs wishing to tour in the area in the future. There is a large, car and coach park, adjacent to the club.

We are in the process of getting everything ready for the new season, the green is looking very good and the ground keepers are working hard to give the bowlers the best posssible playing surface. Attention is being paid to all other facilities and every member is looking forward to an excellent summer from every aspect of bowling. The season 2008 has started reasonably well from the leagues point of view with our o60's "A" team on the top rung of the 1st. division exeter and district triples league whilst the "B" team is 5th from top in the 3rd but unfortunatley the "C" team is struggling in the 5th divisionbeing 2nd from the bottom . There are 7 divisions now in the Exeter league so for a small club we are doing well. The MDL team standing 4th. in the first division and am sure we will carry the good work on to the end of the season The ladies have now started their Print Plus games with a won one lost one situation but in spite of the loss of some good "girls" to holidays ,Injury and other reasons not a bad start.
